DaveTerpening > On the way to Alberta. I spent the first night in Valemount and the second morning exploring the backroads around Tete Jeaune Cache.
DaveTerpening > Mt. Robson. This is the tallest peak in the Candian Rockies at 15,299 ft. I'm still 20 kilometres away here. This was as the sun was going down. As I was taking these, a black bear was directly across the highway from me stripping berries of a cranberry bush. We pretty much just ignored each other.
DaveTerpening > On the hill behind the lodge, this was someone's worship place. (That's a cross in the oval) This had been here a long time as the lichen had grown in around the rocks and anchors them all in place. A very rugged yet peaceful spot.
DaveTerpening > Pre-dawn. North Saskatchewan River
DaveTerpening > First full day of the five day photography tour. Out the door at 6:00 a.m. looking for good sunrise light on the North Saskatchewan River.
DaveTerpening > And then this happened.
DaveTerpening > Abraham Lake. A reservoir actually. Glassy calm in the morning.
DaveTerpening > A burned out aspen forest, slowly recovering in the dry climate. This was a controlled burn that got out of control years ago and wound up burning for weeks.
DaveTerpening > These are prayer flags at a Blackfoot Nation sight.
DaveTerpening > The prayer flags are spread out through this large aspen grove and create a haunting contrast.

DaveTerpening > The second full day of the tour. Yoho National Park and Lake O'Hara. One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen in my life. To give some perspective of the size of these mountains, note the cliff beyond the lake on the left side. It looks pretty small compared to the mountoin behind but it is actually 1,200' above the lake. The next photo was taken from the edge of that cliff.
DaveTerpening > Looking back down at Lake O'Hara from Opabin Prospect. The previous picture was taken from the far side of the lake.
